Autumn Days

It’s most wonderful time of the year…… or is that Christmas? You decide. But I know a few things that are definitely wonderful this season! Pumpkin spiced lattes from Starbucks, cosy knits and cardigans, smart trench coats, lovely layers and crunching leaves under your boots as you walk down the street. And did I mention halloween?! Carving pumpkins and dressing up to go to wild parties with your pals, yes please.  Autumn sees all my favourite trends creeping back in – brown, orange, earthy green, spicy copper and cinnamon hues with flashes of leopard print here and a splash of tartan there. Doesn’t it make your heart sing?

A little glimpse of my delicious pumpkin loaf cake, gluten free might I add…

One of my favourite things about colder weather is the excuse it gives you have soak in a hot bath a couple of times a week. And what better way to relax and unwind than Lush’s autumn themed bath bombs?!

My top picks include the pumpkin, sparkly pumpkin and autumn leaf. Get yours here.

img_0075img_0074Fall also marks a very important era for those of us at uni – FRESHERS! ~I shall be writing a blog post about my outfit choices very shortly so keep your eyes peeled ~ it’s vital that you relax and unwind during the week so that you have enough steam to party all night every night!!

I can’t wait for the beautiful fashions of this season to emerge – summer has been lovely, but it’s now time for the October vibes. I will keep you guys updated with my outfits and beauty tricks for the upcoming season, so stay tuned!

The Gym Life

img_5043Generally speaking, petite frames tend to be rather slim. I am lucky enough to have been blessed with a fast metabolism, meaning I can pretty much eat whatever I want without having to worry about putting on weight. However, I choose to respect my body and try and live a healthy lifestyle. I actually prefer eating good clean food and working out regularly because of the sense of achievement that comes with it, and of course, looking and feeling good.

As I grew into my late teens, my figure developed from little-girly-skinny-minnie to lean more towards an hourglass shape. But even though I am body confident anyway, I still strive to tone muscle, exercise my body and keep fit throughout my life. Exercise is something I believe should be enjoyed! One of the best feelings after a great workout is the buzz you get from knowing you gave it your all, and it really sets you right for the day. You will naturally find yourself opting for cleaner food out of respect and duty towards your wellbeing. And whilst I enjoy my weights routine at the gym, it is great to mix it up and practice yoga and try out group classes such as zumba, HIIT, spin, aerobics, african dance, or whatever sounds like fun!

What I wear to work out in gives me the motivation I need to get up and go sweat. As with all fashion, I believe you should mix and match big brands and designer with cheap and cheerful bargains. I own Lululemon sportwear that I use just as much as my Primark and Tkmaxx attire.

First thing’s first, you need a decent pair of trainers. I joined the Nike hype and honestly, I’ve never regretted it. I opted for these blue ones from the kids’ range to save on cash, but I wear them for pretty much all things gym related and they have lasted me ages! I’d love to get some in other colours just for fun but for now, these babies are doing me proud.

Shop in store or at

I have this weird guilty pleasure for collecting sports bras. I just love them! Not even just for the gym – I wear them around the house, to drama school classes and even under fashion tops to give out a sporty vibe. I find them really comfortable and it stops me from worrying about people seeing through my top, because they’re the kind of thing that are sort of designed to be noticed.

All but the last one in the first picture are from…wait for it…PRIMARK! Yes, they finally stepped up their game with gym wear this year and I am loving it! They cost me about a fiver each, maybe even less, and I get so much use out of all of them. I paticuarly love the criss-cross back to the tie dye one, as shown above. The other one is my Lululemon, which I have had for years and years now. It is more ‘bra-like’ than the others, with a bikini top look about it. I find it so useful to layer under a plain black tank so that it looks like part of the top – this is my trusty attire for movement classes. Maybe if my boobs were bigger I would need to splash out on an extra supportive kind, but for me, these all do the job fabulously!

As for tops, my range is as follows: the pink is from a Lululemon online sale, the black is a plain black vest from Primark (cheap as chips) and the grey one is an A&F eBay find. The Lululemon has a bra built in but I have to wear one under the other two.

And here are my gym pants! The pink ans yellow stripes are from the Tkmaxx kids’ range (lol), the plain black are Forever 21 and literally are the best plain black leggings I’ve ever owned, the blue spotty and Lululemon, GymShark and another grey and black striped Tkmaxx carpi pant. My favourites are the Forever 21 and Lululemons just because they are black full length which I prefer and they have pockets – which come in so handy! GymShark is a brand both me and my boyfriend are obsessed with, and my leggings are lovely – although I had to ask for a replacement pair because my first pair got damaged in the be wary, folks. The pink ones are very wacky, and I like wearing them to a wild yoga or zumba class.

**FUNNY TRUE STORY: Last summer I went to the Wilderness festival and my friend and I signed up for a UV black and light yoga rave. It was fucking insane. But awesome! We were guided through a series of yoga poses and chanted as a group and then out of nowhere the DJ started dropping the beat and everyone started dancing and we got our faces painted. No kidding.

I will happily admit I am a yoga addict. It chills me out, works my core and keeps me nice and flexible. I love these Zenzarion yoga gloves my boyfriend found for me in Tkmaxx which help me to grip the floor better, meaning I can practise even without a mat!

My mat is also from Tkmaxx, and has been with me so long now I feel that we have bonded.

Another essential is my black fleece from Primark, which just slips over my kit to keep me warm on my runs or as I walk to the gym. It’s plain and cosy and only cost me £7. I love this Lulelemon bag which comes free when you order stuff online – I use mine as a little gym bag, as it easily fits a bottle of water and change of clothes in.

Because I am active, I have recently started drinking Protein shakes to keep my strength up and give me the boost my vegetarian diet needs. I use the PhD Woman Support and Recovery shake powder (the strawberry flavour is nicest!). I also use this lovely fruit infuser water bottle everyday so I can enjoy sipping on lemon and lime flavoured water – I got this from Tesco for a fiver.

Sooooo if anyone is interested, I’m gonna talk about my gym routine!

I am aiming to tone up and build lean muscle in my body, so I go the gym 3-4 times per week, and with the help of my boyfriend, I follow this program: (apologies if I use the incorrect name for each exercise)

Day 1:

Lat pull down machine, T-bar, assisted pull ups, low row machine, close grip bench press, tricep rope pull down machine

Day 2:

Bicep bar curl, squats, dumbell hammer curl, dumbell curl on incline bench, leg press, leg curl.

Day 3:

Bar Shoulder press, dumbell side raises, rear delts, barbell shrugs, arnold twists, calf raises on the smith bar, calf raises on the leg press machine.

Day 4:

Stiff leg deadlift, chest press, ab HIIT workout combination followed by plank, treadmill interval training.

Along with this I practice yoga regularly, go to aerobics/zumba classes and get my cardio fix from my movement classes at drama school.

I think the key is to add some variation in there. Alongside my weight training I change up my cardio sessions and always look for new things to shock my body and plunge into something new. It is hard sometimes to make time for the gym with such a busy lifestyle, but it is so important to prioritize it. My advice to anyone looking for gym motivation is to find a training buddy, organize an upbeat playlist that gets your body pumping and get yourself kitted in some gym wear you love! Bright colours or sleek and black, whatever floats your boat.

All the best! Jessica. X

My All Time Essentials

Hello there! I hope everyone has had a great week! I’ve been back at it with the drama school life this week, plus 6am gym sessions every it’s been a very busy one for me. I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite items that keep me feeling fresh when life starts getting hectic! I love finding stuff you use everyday but never stop loving, and these things all contribute a lot to my everyday fashion statements.

Soap & Glory Collection:

Doesn’t test on animals √

Smells amazing

Makes my room display look pretty

Soap & Glory products are an all time winner! Luckily, lots of relatives and friends know S&G gift  sets never fail, so I have quite a good stash. These are the only body products in my opinion that you can actually still smell hours after they have been applied. My bedsheets and clothes even smell of the yummy scent, and when people go in for a hug they often compliment the smell. There’s nothing quite like being told you smell nice! Everything does the job – body butters keep my skin smooth, exfoliators scrub away dead skin, foot cream makes for the perfect pedicure, ect. S&G is the shit.

Smashbox Full Exposure Eye Palette:

I use this pallette literally everyday. It brings prettiness and wearable glamour into neutral based colours. For my green eyes, the golden and peachy tones really sets my eyes alight; but I think any colour eyes would thank you for using this assortment. It goes from daytime to nighttime real quick, with sparkly and darker option for a sexy smoky look. Mine also came with a little mascara and tutorial for eye shapes which was handy. Although it costs a hefty sum at £38, I have definitely got my money’s worth with this treasure. Smashbox currently have an offer of £5 at the moment too, which you can check out on the product listing here-

Lipstick Loves :

Laura Mercier Pink Royale Lip Velvet is my favourite option for a quick red lip. The ruby shade is warm and compliments my complexion, and I love the texture of this high end gloss. Red lips are so much fun to spice up a casual outfit, and this gloss helps me make it look effortless.

Seventeen Mirror Shine Lipstick in Roserie is the one lipstick I am obsessed with! I have already gone through 2 of these because they are so cheap, I feel no guilt wearing it all the time! I love a pale lip, and this shade is where lilac meets rose pink. I love to team it with a dusting of bronzer and gold eyelids for a sunkissed, girly, glowing look.

Benefit Ultra Plush Ligloss in Kiss You is also perfect for lilacy lips. Whilst Seventeen’s lipstick gives more of a balm appearance texture and appearance, this is a smooth lipgloss. I love them both, and get so much use out of them.

My Favourite Brown Jacket!

I adore this H&M jacket. It has lasted me years and years, and I only paid about £25 for it. This style has never gone out of fashion and I don’t think it ever will! Plus brown goes with pretty much everything to it’s easy to slip on over all my outfits. This is my one true investment if ever there was one.

Bare Minerals Compact Power Foundation

I am a huge fan of Bare Minerals. I  remember how shocked I was when the counter assistant applied it to my face – it covered all my acne but felt so lightweight! My skin has healed remarkably since converting to this foundation, and I never get the struggle of de-oxygenating foundation making my face look orange. Although I go for a heavier liquid foundation for night time looks, Bare Minerals is perfect for my day to day lifestyle. Weight training, dance class, yoga and drama school are no match for this product! I can get as sweaty as I like without having to worry about ruining my skin or my flawless finish.

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium

This perfume is DELICIOUS. Sexy, sophisticated and sweet all at once. I just want to inhale the whole bottle. Definitely my favourite perfume at this moment.

And there we have it – my go to items for easy, effortless, everyday glamour! I am so grateful that they all exist. Have you tried any of these? What are your go-to products? Comment below!

Thanks for reading everyone! ♥♥

Get Cosy

Term 2 of drama school was so intense I almost forgot what it felt like to chill out! Coming home after a long train journey and running a bath, putting my slippers on and curling up to a good book certainly helped me to unwind though.

UGG slippers are the best creation ever! I love these leopard print clog slippers for lounging around the house in. They also come in a more summery style, check them out:

Next up, we have the Balance Me Face Mask. It claims to polish, hydrate and smooth and contains Kaolin clay, walnut shells and fruit acids. It smells divine, and  unlike many face masks, doesn’t feel harsh on my sensitive skin because of all the natural sources of the ingredients. I must admit, my face has a natural healthy glow after using it a couple of times this week! I managed to get this free with an issue of Glamour magazine, which often has great gifts well worth the £2 you pay for the magazine.

I used to be such a bookworm, but the stress of English A Level really put me off reading for a while. However, this gripping thriller has rekindled me with my love of books. I read Behind Closed Doors in less than 24 hours; I literally couldn’t put it down. The story is about a supposedly perfect married couple who have a dark secret behind their deceiving appearances. B A Paris is a marvelous author, with the flipping in the story from past to present always being clear and never once throwing me off. The action gets going so quickly, as did my engagement with the characters, and so I just had to find out what happened pretty much all in one sitting. A M A Z I N G.

And finally, we have these cute little mugs from the Disney store. I love kitchen wear with character – who needs boring white mugs when these beauties exist? And they come with adorable little matching spoons. You can pick your favourite Disney characters and happily sip your hot water and lemon* from them or whatever it is you like to drink. How very cosy.

*hot water and lemon is the best drink of all time, it is so good for you! It energizes you naturally, cleanses the digestive system, refreshes you mouth and gives your skin a healthy appearance. Try replacing one brew a day with it!

The perfect ingredients for a peaceful, cosy weekend in! And lots of cuddling the dog. Heaven! Thanks for reading, you beautiful people. x
